The 2025 World IP Economic Development Conference and Global IP Licensing Expo was held over three days starting May 10, 2025, at the China Import and Export Complex in Guangzhou, China. This event was organized under the guidance of the Copyright Society of China (CSC) and co-hosted by seven entities including Sina Finance and Weibo. It brought together around 300 companies from a wide range of sectors such as animation, gaming, film, and cultural heritage. The purpose of the event was to establish a platform for communication and synergy among stakeholders in the rapidly developing content IP industry in China and globally, thereby contributing to its further growth.
The event was a great success, attracting guests including officials from both central and local Chinese governments, as well as numerous of the press, including newspaper, television, and internet media outlets.
The opening ceremony on May 10 featured keynote speeches by Ma Zuiliang, Former Director of the National Development and Reform Commission and Strategic Emerging Industries Inter-Ministerial Advisor, and Yu Cike, Executive Vice-Chairman of CSC.
On May 11, Goto of CODA delivered a keynote speech titled “The Growth and Challenges of Japanese Content IP.” In his address, he discussed the current state and evolution of the Japanese and global content IP markets, which have experienced rapid growth alongside increasing popularity, and highlighted the ongoing issue of counterfeit character merchandise.
Throughout the conference period, various exhibits related to the content IP industry were showcased, and the “Top Ten IPs of 2025” awards ceremony was also held to recognize outstanding works that contributed to the development of the content IP industry. The venue remained lively and bustling throughout the event.
